On February 22nd residents of Hazel Park got an interesting view while sipping their morning coffee, a light weight drill rig strolling through their neighborhood. After receiving an invitation to the Hazel Park State of the City Address, we decided to drive HAZL to the event, utilizing its high mobility. With permission from the city, HAZL set off at 7 a.m. from Exlterra for its mile-long journey to the Hazel Park Recreation Center.

Upon arrival, HAZL was parked on the grass right next to the entrance for everyone to see, drawing even more attention as onlookers were treated to a brief demonstration of HAZL’s tilting telescopic tower and 0˚ turn radius.

The festivities didn’t stop there, after showing photos and a short clip of HAZL’s unveiling, Mayor Mike Webb recognized inventor Andrew Niemczyk for his monumental achievement, and commended Exlterra for its commitment to the city. After which, Mayor Webb encouraged everyone to take a moment outside to see the drill rig up close. Once the address had concluded, attendees had the chance to meet both Andrew (Exlterra Founder) and Frank (Exlterra CEO) and ask questions about HAZL. To commemorate the appearance of HAZL and show their appreciation, a banner now stands at Hazel Park City Hall to recognize the relationship that has and will continue to grow between Exlterra and the community.
