Exlterra announces launch of Hazl drill rig technology
HAZEL PARK, Mich. – December 15, 2017 – Exlterra, a leader in developing new technologies and products to tackle environmental challenges, today launched Hazl, a revolutionary ultra-light drilling rig.
Utilizing a light-weight design and narrow frame, Hazl weighs less than 3,600 pounds. It includes a pivoting rear axle, a zero-degree turn capability, and a 12-foot usable stroke on a unique telescopic tower. Powered by an energy efficient 26 horsepower Kohler engine, complemented by a proprietary hydraulic system, Hazl moves fast and freely, making it a powerful machine operable in any environment. The rig is built for performance, combining mobility and economy without sacrificing power or efficiency, according to company officials.
“The launch of Hazl will not only accelerate the development of our various environmental technologies, but also greatly benefit other applications such as geothermal, geotechnical, and water well drilling,” said Andrew Niemczyk, Hazl’s creator and Exlterra’s founder. “There is nothing in the world like this machine, I guarantee you that.”
The rig was tested for two years in numerous locations in the United States and Switzerland, with operators at various levels of drilling experience. “To our entire satisfaction, Hazl handled every difficulty thrown at her impeccably,” said Niemczyk, adding that only one task remained, which was to determine its name.
“During the development of the drill rig we had the opportunity to interact with many companies and people in Hazel Park. We continuously received strong support from city officials,” said Frank Muller, Exlterra’s CEO. “When determining a name that fit our drilling rig, it just felt right that it be named after the city where it was born.”
Exlterra Inc. has already revolutionized water management with the invention and introduction of the energy-passive groundwater recharge product in 2010.
